The Herbal Medicine Kit accompanies the First Course in Medical Herbalism distance learning course through NAIMH. This kit contains 15 of the most commonly used herbs in practice. It has everything a beginning herbalist needs to start working with herbal medicines and complete the projects for the First Course in Medical Herbalism.

Herbal Medicine Kit Contents

 

  • Bulk Herbs for tea: 1oz each for making infusions and decoctions
    • Red clover blossoms
    • Burdock root
    • Dandelion root
    • Stinging nettle herb
    • Valerian root
    • Lemon balm herb
    • Skullcap herb
    • Chamomile flowers
    • Calendula flowers
    • Raspberry leaf
    • Licorice root
    • Marshmallow root

 

  • Herbs in 4oz clear jars: for making tinctures (see below for further instructions)
    • 20 grams - Echinacea root
    • 16 grams - Cramp bark
    • 16 grams - Skullcap herb

 

  • Dropper bottles
    • 3 empty 2-ounce amber dropper bottles for your home-made tinctures.
    • 3 blank labels are included separately in the kit to label your finished product.

 

  • Tincture: 1oz tincture bottle of Siberian ginseng

 

  • Salve: 2 oz container of Calendula salve

 

 

Tincture Making Instructions

Set the 4oz clear jars with herbs in them on a countertop. Add vodka (any brand, unflavored) to the jars. Cover and shake well. Let them sit for two weeks on a countertop in your kitchen. Shake each jar once or twice a day. At two weeks, strain and pour your finished tincture into the amber dropper bottles. Label your amber bottles with the herb name and date. It is ready to use!
