Hawthorn Field Class - 9/23/23

Outdoor, in-person class & medicine making

  • 50 US dollars
  • Nevada City

Overview

Dive into the magic and materia medica of Hawthorn! This single plant focused field class offers discussion into the phytochemistry, actions, and numerous uses of hawthorn. Known as an herb that strengthens the cardiovascular system, we will harvest and make medicine from the hawthorn berry as we share the science, history, and therapeutics for working with one of the most beloved herbs of our medicine chest. In this workshop you will learn some lesser known uses for this amazing medicine, including actions for respiratory and digestive health. Getting to know dozens of uses for one herb is more effective for building a working knowledge of botanical medicine than getting to know one use for a dozen herbs. Participants will gain insight into a variety of ways to use hawthorn in their own lives and take home two different hawthorn preparations for their own medicine cabinet, plus learn several other methods for processing hawthorn as a wild food and medicine. No experience necessary! Open to the community! Be sure to check the weather and dress accordingly. This is a medicine-making class, all materials provided. * * * * * * * When: Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 10 am - 1 pm PST Where: The ACORN School's Medicine Garden - address given upon registration, location is just two miles from town.
